The Lovers, 8 of Swords + the Decans of Gemini

As a general rule each sign of the Zodiac is comprised of 30 days. Within each 30 days are 3 sub-groups of 10 days, known as decans and they represent the early, middle and latter phases of the sign.

In the Major Arcana, the section of the deck that deals with our journey through life the whole 30 days of Gemini is represented by The Lovers.

In simple terms it speaks of union, choices, duality (Gemini is the sign of The Twins after all), relationships, and harmony.

In the Minor Arcana that portrays our day to day lives the cards that represent the decans, the three groups of 10 days of Gemini are 8, 9 and 10 of Swords. Swords is the suit of intellect and deals with our thoughts, beliefs, opinions and how we communicate them to others.

While all 3 decan cards represent the challenges and opportunities for growth for all Geminis, if you’re an early Twin like me, born between 21st and 31st May, your key card is 8 of Swords.

8 of Swords shows a woman trapped in a prison of her own thoughts.

She feels victimised, stuck and completely lacking in perspective. If only she would remove the blindfold and release the self-imposed ties that bind her to limiting beliefs and negative thoughts she could use one of the swords to cut through the mental fog and see things with clarity and fresh eyes.

This is SO me and perfectly represents the challenges I’ve faced in the last year. Whenever I see her in a reading for myself I know it’s time to check in with myself to make sure I’m not slipping back into negativity, blame and playing the victim.

If you were born between 21st and 31st May does this card resonate with you? If you don’t want to share in the comments then please feel free to message me, I’d love to hear your experiences 🤍

I’ll be back at the start of June to introduce you to the next decan card.

9 of Swords is all about those pesky sleepless nights overthinking and catastrophising!
